You had sexy long blonde hair and were wearing a blue green dress that showed off your curves. One of your friends had brown hair and was in a red dress. You had a beautiful smile and the way you laughed made me hard. I overheard you saying you're in a sorority and had a formal coming up. . . I wish I could have been your date. . . the things I would do to you afterwards. You might have noticed me, I was at the bar in a navy polo and khaki shorts. I'd love to meet you there again sometime, maybe this time you'll let me buy you a drink. I doubt you'll see this, but if you or any of your sisters do, email me soon :) …

Hi, just wanted to say that you are soooo attacitive and it sucks that I have to keep my hands to myself because you are married. Your accent is what made me melt. Anyway, I hope you continue to come around so I can have some good eye candy to look at :) …
I got a huge kick out of reading this stuff. Sorry if any of you actually use the site. It completely distracted me from my original goal but kept me entertained. I wonder if people actually respond and find their supposed “soul mate” on there. What a story that would be…“Yeah, I met your mother through an internet post on craigslist, after I saw her driving down Market Street. I simply just typed my heart out to her and waited weeks for a response. She got online one day and our ‘missed connection’ was connected.”
So I LOVED this! lol I have never used craigslist before so I had no idea about the "missed connection" section. I don't get how it works though. I mean, if you see someone and then you post about seeing them, how does that person know you're talking about them? Would you say their name or are they just suppose to guess it's them by the description? I'm sure it really doesn't matter because, let's be honest, how many people actually "connect" through the "missed connections" page? But still, it's really interesting and definitely good for a laugh.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO funny! One of my friends showed me this section on craigslist and my jaw hit the ground. I was so taken back! I didn't believe this whole "missed connection" section was real. I'm going to bet that someone HAS indeed found their "soulmate" through "missed connections". Next time I see a hot man sitting in a car beside of me at a red light, but before I can open my mouth to confess my love for him the light quickly turns green, I will for sure be logging onto "missed connections" later that night to post my feelings for the man that got away.
ReplyDeletehahaha i loved this! I feel like craigslist just keeps getting creepier and creepier, especially after the whole prostitute thing that happened a few years ago. I also noticed that you now have to confirm to be 18 to even be able to access the "missed connections" section or any of the personal adds. haha i wonder if the missed connections post even actually do ger responses...
ReplyDeletehahaha I love looking at that site! It's a perfect distraction when I'm on craigslist.com looking for a job or something real. I hope some people have actually use that "missed connections," but I doubt the percent of those people who would meet their "soul mate" from their post would be too much higher than zero. Who knows, I might even use it someday, even if it's for a joke. However there are similar websites like that with slightly more practical purposes, such as isawyourutgers.com, where you can thank someone for an act of kindness, shout out to a good-looking person you saw on campus or from the bus, vent about an annoying neighbor in a dorm building, or make it known you saw someone pick their nose in class. Just like craigslist, though, this website became increasingly inappropriate and was actually shut down by the school about a year ago. While I see the good intentions of such sites, it's hilarious to see people using them as a real social connection seeking source.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love your blog entry! This was so entertaining. Sadly I had already seen one of these posts because one of my friends and I get on it sometimes for fun to get a laugh=). It is so weird how some people take craigslist so seriously...I actually had a guy a girl in one of my classes junior year who said that she "met" her boyfriend from this page that you're talking about. He saw her at the gas station and described her and her dog, then she emailed him and they met up, then hit things off! Kind of crazy to think how much our society has changed especially in the dating area and how people meet.
